Specialised Assessments

ADL Assessments

Activity plans can be drafted by our Occupational Therapists in conjunction with the worker to ensure the worker is not idle whilst off work. The worker is given a feasible program of activities to keep mind and body active and to ensure that even whilst off work they have goals to achieve. We also assess and provide advice on any tools or equipment an injured worker may require to better cope with their daily living as well as modifications to the home.

Functional Capacity Evaluations

Utilising the Workhab System, these evaluations are utilised when there is insufficient information available on medical restrictions for a return to work plan to commence or, where there is a difference of opinion between the treating and independent examiner regarding a worker’s capacity for work. As FCE’s are an objective measure of the worker’s capacity they are invaluable in identifying actual capabilities, facilitating a return to work program or, confirming an injured worker has not made every reasonable effort to seek suitable employment or return to work.

Home Assessments

It is possible that a worker may require a Home Assessment to assess their requirement for specifically requested items such as beds, gardening or cleaning services. These assessments are conducted by our Occupational Therapists and, where appropriate, colour photos are included in the resultant reports to provide a clear picture of the worker’s situation and our recommendations on the type and level of assistance they require.

Acquired Brain Injury Services

Counselling Appraisal Consultants (CAC) has identified that the usual Occupational Rehabilitation process does not always provide an adequate level of support for clients with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). For clients with ABI, the development of a clear goal driven program is essential. This allows all stakeholders to maintain a focussed approach to return to work issues. A holistic assessment approach, combined with intensive, ongoing liaison with medical and allied health practitioners establishes realistic expectations in line with a client’s skills and abilities. This approach ensures that all factors impacting on the return to work process are taken into consideration.
