Risk Managment Services

Risk/Safety Assessments

These surveys and audits can be offered to ascertain both the physical and psychological environment that employees work within and the likely risks of claims.

Ergonomic Assessments

Where an employer has experienced a pattern of injuries or claims, it is often useful to undertake an ergonomic assessment in order to reduce the likelihood of further injuries/claims. An ergonomic assessment can be undertaken by our Occupational Therapists and the changes required can either be documented in a report or presented in a training program for staff.

Manual Handling/Postural Training

Both of these types of training can be offered to employees deemed to be at risk as a result of poor manual handling techniques or poor posture. The training is customised to meet each employer’s particular requirements and the type of work performed by employees.

Recruitment Services

We are also able to assist employers with their recruitment program to ensure that the individual selected for the position meets the requirements of the position. This can include any or all the following services:

Pre-employment medicals

CAC has a panel of specialist occupational physicians who are able to undertake pre employment medicals on behalf of employers. The assessments aim to provide a detailed understanding of the potential employee’s medical history and any special requirements that the employer may need to put into place to reduce the risk of work place injury.

Pre-employment screening FCE

Functional Capacity Evaluations can be undertaken that mimic the duties that the potential employee will be undertaking in their new position. In order to set up the FCE, our Occupational Therapist will in most instances need to visit the work place to gain a clear understanding of all the tasks that comprise that particular job. Whilst at the work place, where appropriate the Occupational Therapist may also make recommendations to the employer to reduce work place risks for injury. The Occupational Therapist will then undertake the assessment once they have received clearance from the potential employee’s doctor and provide a report that details the individual’s physical capacity to undertake the work including any recommendations in terms of manual handling techniques.

The aim of this assessment is to reduce the risk of injury to new employees.

Psychological testing

Psychological testing comprises part intelligence testing and part personality performed by our psychologists to ensure that the employer has an understanding of the candidate’s general abilities, likely work practices and personality to make an informed decision as to whether the person suits the culture of the organisation and is likely to be a good fit for the position. In order to make this assessment, our psychologist will first meet with the employer to gain a thorough understanding of the requirements of the position and the culture of the organisation including operational techniques of the managers.

A report will be provided to the employer with recommendations that should be used in conjunction with results from the interview and reference checks for the employer to make an informed decision.
